Samsung SyncMaster 940UX - First USB-Powered Monitor

Samsung has introduced a new 19-inch LCD monitor called, the SyncMaster 940UX, which can be connected with monitors using only USB port. The UbiSync LCD monitor is the world’s first USB-connected display, which also needs no graphics card. The new monitor, which features DVI, four-port USB hub, D-sub input ports, has embedded driver software that automatically installs a driver into a user’s PC when the monitor and PC are connected.
Samsung said in a statement: “that the new concept monitor makes multi-display significantly easier as it can be expanded to six monitors using only USB port. The drivers eliminate users inconveniences such as additional graphic card purchases and separate driver downloads and installations.”
Other features include the British-developed video networking technology from DisplayLink, 32-bit color support and DVD-quality video playback. The UbiSync LCD Monitor is due on sale in May for $678. Yeah, not so cheap but you can easily to add an extra screen to a PC without having to open the box and install extra VGA or DVI ports.
