The performance of this LCD is excellent. On HD material (I use Win Media HD versions of IMAX movies for testing), the image is outstanding and the performance excellent. For DVDs, I would strongly recommend an HDMI unit, with an HDMI to DVI cable. This combination is superb, and is much superior on this unit to component inputs. I suspect some of the more negative reviews on image quality come from folks who are not driving the display digitally. This is one unit that seems to absolutely require this to give the best quality. And it is worth the relatively small extra expense to do this.
Some reviewers of Syntax LCDs note corner light leakage on this and other units. This leakage can be seen as a light “cone” in the corners of the screen, especially in the top left corner. My own unit has the same issue, but after being on for 20 minutes, the problem disappears. Tech support says this is normal behavior for this product.
Connecting the PC was a snap and assembling out of the box was a snap. In addition, all connections are on the side and very intuitive — a huge improvement from older models. The remote, however, is cheap and remains non-intuitive. Upconverted signal is good, but not good as an equivalent plasma. Overall great value for the price.
